Animations and poses
The way your avatar moves is handled by special files called animations or poses. These animations and poses can, together with sounds and text be made into gestures within second life.
In a way, an animation is nothing but a set of different poses played after each other. If a file can be saved as a BHV file. This file can be uploaded to Second Life.
