We all rely on our senses to stay in contact with the world around us. With sensory deprivement, you take away the ability to use one or more of someones senses. Most often, the senses that are taken away are either sight or hearing , or both, of course.
sight and hearing are the senses humans use the most. This is probably due to the fac that hearing and sight are able to detect events form a distance, when the person itself can still react in defense or fencepost. Smell works also over distance, but somehow this sense, even thought it is the first one a human develops, quickly gets worse after birth, as other sense taking over.
Because Sight and hearing seems so critical for us, they are the most targeted senses in sensory deprivement. Another reason might be that they are rather easy to block, using a blindfold, and ore ear muffs.
When a sense is blocked, other senses will grow stronger, in an effort to compensate for the lost sense. However, even thought the other senses are on higher alert, it does take longer then a few hours or even days for the senses to become strong enough to compensate. This leaves the deprived person with some kind of anxiety.
any smell, touch and taste will feel more intense then without the deprivement. And a good dominant will make use of it with caressing, pinching, ice cubes, candle wax, ect. It is very power full to see a sub squirm at the thought s of the unknown. Uncertain if the next things she feels or tastes is a reward, or a punishment. of course, tying the submissive on a table or in bed makes makes the vulnerability, the loss of control even greater.
